Carver
Engaged in masonry restoration for the past 40 years,
Mr. Deeley is fully conversant in all aspects of building
restoration. His expertise includes developing masonry
cleaning agents, applying specialized coatings, caulking,
and tuckpointing, application of specialized stone
consolidants, and synthetic repair mortars.
An accomplished stone mason by trade, he was awarded
The City and Guilds of London Institute Intermediate
and Advanced Craft Certificates in 1968. Prior to
emigrating to Canada, Mr. Deeley had already established
his reputation in cutting, dressing, fixing, and cleaning
stone in the restoration of historic buildings and
monuments ranging from the 15th to 20th century.
In his role as site foreman and later as Operations
Manager Mr. Deeley was responsible for such projects
as Union Station, Toronto, the Princes' Gates at Toronto's
C.N.E., CHUM/City TV, Toronto, Head Office of the
Bank of Nova Scotia, Halifax, and over 2000 other
restoration projects completed during his tenure.
Mr. Deeley has been employed by Summit Restoration
Ltd., since 1975, and is currently functioning as
General Manager of Old World Stone Ltd. Since 1989
he has been involved with stone replacement for the
Cornwall Public Library; supply and chemical consolidation
of dimensional and carved stone for Hiram Walker/Allied
Vintners stone fountain; supply of dimensional and
carved stone for the North Wing of the Ontario Legislative
Building; carved and turned stone for Osgoode Hall;
carved stone for the east entrance of University College
at the University of Toronto; dimensional cut and
carved stone for BCE Place - Heritage Square; carved
stone for Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo; and dimensional
stone for the restoration of Stratford City Hall.
Most recently he has been responsible for carved and
dimensional cut limestone supply to the Cathedral
of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, Colorado which
was struck by lightning and for the turned, carved,
and cut stone supply for the restoration of Wellesley
Town Hall, near Boston Massachusetts. Recent projects
include carved stone pinnacles for the Chapel at Princeton
University, and tracery windows for two historic American
churches.
