| In 1850 the Bank of British North America
donated a fountain for the centre of Gore Park as a
symbol of the City's progressive nature in time for
H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to dedicate it.
The original fountain fell into disrepair and was removed
in 1959, the present fountain was erected as a Sesquicentennial
project in 1996. Old World Stone provided the thirty
five foot diameter Indiana limestone curbing. The names
of sponsoring Business Improvement Association members
are inlaid in each stone.
