Created by Old World Stone for the
Burlington Chapter of the Royal Canadian Naval Association,
this monument commemorates all of the ships and seamen
who served in World War II.
- Over 15,000 letters and 6 crests were cut into 11
tons of Cambrian black granite.
- Polished Cambrian black granite on a sea of Norwegian
Blue Pearl granite.
- A bronze sculpture of a seaman stands atop the 7
ton cairn.
- Over 15,000 letters were cut into the granite using
a rubber stencil and sandblast technique.

The monument was dedicated on the 50th anniversary
of "VE Day" at the Battle of the Atlantic
ceremonies. It is located on the shoreline of Lake
Ontario in Spencer Smith Park, Burlington.
